Early therapeutic interventions can help improve the cognitive and behavioral function of individuals with brain abnormalities. The brain imaging analyses conducted at the TReNDS center captures the structure and activity of the human brain. This can contribute to the identification of disease at early stages and predict progression to disease.

Decoding Schizophrenia

Understanding the neural features of hallucinations in Schizophrenia can provide insight into how clinicians might refine their treatment plans for those experience these distressing symptoms. We investigate genetic, neurological, and biological profiles of patients with schizophrenia to identify those that might be at risk for developing hallucinations, and what makes the brains of these individuals unique.

Major Depressive Disorder or Bipolar Disorder?

Using neuroimaging data, the TReNDS center uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to differentiate between bipolar and depression, which means lower misdiagnosis rates and better treatment outcomes for patients
