Help us foster a passion for science & creativity by sponsoring our Mind’s Eye Student Art Competition, a collaboration between the TReNDS Center & Drew charter school.
Hosted by the TReNDS Center
The Tri-institutional Center for Translational Research in Neuroimaging & Data Science conducts cutting-edge research to diagnose, track, and treat neurological disease and disorders, and understand how the healthy brain works. Working as part of a National Science Foundation sponsored Center for Excellence in Science & Technology (CREST), one of our missions is to increase scientific literacy, particularly in under-served & marginalized groups, to make neuroscience an inclusive field. This starts in the classroom by making science fun & accessible.
Drew Charter School
Drew is a project-based learning environment located in the heart of East Lake and serves ethnically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse students. They are committed to an educational emphasis on removing economic and social barriers so that each child reaches their full potential.
About the Competition
At our center, we look at pictures of the brain to visualize how parts of the brain look, act, and talk to one another. Take a look at some of our brain pictures (neuro-images) from our research and use your mind’s eye to create your own interpretation of our science or a neuro-image.
The competition will run from March 25th until April 15th. Date of winner announcement is to be decided.

The competition will run from March 25th until April 15th
Pieces can be up to 4 feet X 4 feet
Students must provide a 3-4 sentence artist statement
All formats are accepted (i.e. 2-D & 3-D visual art pieces, mixed media, digital media).
Students are allowed 1 submission.
Winning pieces will be displayed at the TReNDS Center for 6 months. Sponsors may request to showcase pieces at their place of business.
TReNDS reserves the right to print out images of any submission after the completion of the competition.
Students’ artwork must be original. It is critical that submitted artwork not be overly derivative of images found on the Internet, in print media, or elsewhere. To avoid copyright infringement, works thought to be copies will be disqualified as will work which has been traced.
